Welcome to my website.
I am pleased to serve in my second term as City Councilwoman from the Third District. Please explore my website and sign up for my periodic newsletters. I have been assigned to a number of committees and boards and would appreciate any input you might have that would give me a clearer perspective in making decisions that improve the quality of life for all of our citizens.
Only with a healthy economy and well-paying jobs can we provide for our families while also generating necessary tax revenues to maintain the quality of life and government services we all desire. My work on the Finance Committee, the Spokane Transit Authority, and the Spokane Regional Transportation Council will give me opportunities to make sure commerce is moving in our community.
Living within its means and openness is a must for good government. I pledge to fight for a leaner government, less taxes, and greater personal freedom. My involvement with the Association of Washington Cities (newly elected Secretary) and the National League of Cities affords me unique opportunities to learn about successes and challenges in other communities. Because of these associations, I’ve been working with state officials to resolve conflicts and discover solutions.
Providing a safe community is the foremost job of government. My work on the Public Safety Committee and the Police Advisory Committee will be aimed at reducing the threat of crimes fueled by drugs and gang involvement. Our Chief of Police, Anne Kirkpatrick, and the police force serving on our streets deserve our thanks and support.
To ensure that Spokane remains a leader among Washington’s cities well into the future, we must continue to invest in the lives of our children. Providing them with ample parks and recreational facilities, along with world-class schools and opportunities to serve on city boards with both a voice and vote will pay handsome dividends for years to come.
I remain vitally committed to conserving the values, economic strengths, and environmental resources that have made Spokane an attractive home for so many families. Toward that end, I welcome your involvement. Please accept my invitation to attend Spokane City Council meetings on Monday evenings where your questions and comments are encouraged in order to gain a better understanding of issues that affect us all.
